Saber Shipment Exemption Certification

There is no product or company that is excluded from being registered on SABER. If the products are not intended for sale or trade in Saudi market, SASO has launched the Exemption Platform. This platform helps to submit an exemption request for imported shipments that not intended for sale or trade, such as shipments that are imported by individuals for the purpose of construction or restoration as well as shipments of raw materials products or factory equipment’s used in production lines, and shipments that are supplied to a government agency according to a purchase contract.

How can SABERSAUDI help ?

SABERSAUDI’s team will submit a shipment exemption request through your Saber account and ensure to receive the feedback of the request, by listing the proper required data and the reason of submitting the request, then, taking care of the follow up process with.

In case you don’t have a Saber account, we’ll create it using the company CR and the national ID. 

If you are importing personal item or product samples, then a personal account will be created for you but in this case it’ll be used to register and certify non-commercial shipments, and it could not be used to issue product conformity certificates (PCOC).

The purpose of the shipment exemption certificate is to expedite and facilitate the clearance of noncommercial products shipments.

Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) are responsible for studying and reviewing shipment exemption requests and taking the decision for the request whether it’s approved or rejected.

Usually, Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) quality team takes from 7 to 10 working days to check the exemption request and study the submitted documents.

The cost of submitting a shipment exemption request is 402.5 SAR, same as the shipment certificate of conformity. These fees are nonrefundable is the request wasn’t accepted.

The required documents vary according to the purpose of the request; contact SaberSaudi’s team to know the exemption purposes and the required documents.

Previously, SASO allowed only 30 products to be listed in each exemption request, but since December 2020, SASO extended the quantity of products to a 100 product/request. To cut down the number of requests and the submission fees.
