There are different conformity assessment types, type 1a, type 3 and type 5, and they refer to the assessment types defined in ISO/IEC 17065. Different conformity assessment activities are required for each type as applicable:
Products are tested based on the established SASO. Exporter obtains a test report (to be submitted to NB) based on the ruling standard/s. Note: If there are no test reports, SABERSAUDI will take samples of the product, and have it tested at an accredited testing lab. Test reports are one of the main documents where the conformance to Saudi requirements will be based from.
Manufacturing facility is subjected to a factory audit to check on the implementation of the product safety management system (defined in the SASO technical regulations). If audit is satisfactory, the certification body issues the product certificate of conformity, with a validity of 1 year, subject to a yearly surveillance visit.
On the 3rd year, a full audit shall be performed on the factory, and any failure to fulfil the yearly audit leads to the suspension of the product certificate.
Similar to type 3 conformity assessment method mentioned above, only with the addition of a regular (yearly) sampling (from factory or market) and testing of the product as per requirements of the relevant SASO standard.

No, the certificate of conformity is issued under the name of the importer who obtained it.
Failure to comply with this program may cause clearance delays or the return of the shipment.

The time required to issue a conformity certificate depends on the regulations that the product belongs to, and providing the required documents (e.g. technical reports) to the conformity assessment body at the soonest time.
No, the product must be added as a new product and required another conformity certificate since the manufacturer or country of origin has been changed.
